Oh My Children

Oh My Children

And there came a call from the great beyond

Oh my children

What have you done

Krishna, Jesus, Mohamed and more

Shed tears of love

For a planet at war

A globe in a universe

A sphere in a cloud

A world of negligence

Once that was proud

A tangle of ignorance

That opened the box

The horrors of pestilence

Set free by a plot

When greed and mendacity become the new norm than much like a virus the hosts become a swarm

Burning with the ferocity of a thousand fires

The earth becomes a furnace and we become its pyres

Beware my children and do not wait for naught when our scorched and bleeding planet lay in chaos and our souls are left to rot

The Gibbous Moon

 Let the Circle be Unbroken”

The Gibbous Moon

The Waxing Gibbous Moon phase is a time for reflection. It's a time to look back on the life lessons you've learnt and the internal growth that has come from them and use this to adjust your current goals and life path accordingly.

What better time to be back in my primary source of energy, the city of big shoulders, the city that never sleeps? That would be Chicago!

It seems strange to some that after a winter sabbatical in the serene quiet of the golden desert, I would be eager to plunge back into the hectic and chaotic rhythm of “the Windy City”? Not at all I say.

Chicago provides the excitement and sophistication of the world class city it is, mixed with a dash of brashness and unabashed devil may care shaken not stirred and served over a drop dead skyline of architectural wonders. Mid Century Moderns stand side by side with Bauhaus beauties, and Frank Lloyd Wright creations hold hands with Louis Sullivan’s organic monuments.

A pause here to reflect on what was just laid out. I did say Mid Century Modern without referencing Palm Springs, and there in lies a clue to the dichotomy that is me.

Taking the electric energy of the “Emerald City” to the “Tranquil  Oasis” of the desert is not only unique but magical as well. The pairing of two such diverse life styles are only possible when brought together by similar sensibilities.

As for myself , I  think that I would be diminished should I to choose one over the other. Much like air is to fire, and water is to earth, each element must have its balance in order to sustain them. On their own they cannot exist but if the mixture is right, together they can and will grow and prosper.

So fly then my soul on wings of pure love and take me to balance in the   Blue skies above

From Emerald Electric to  Moon Tides in space, each having their way with my newly found grace

My Inner Space

My desert meditations seem to always free my mind and soul to work together in perfect harmony and bring me to that special place where time stands still for the moment

My Inner Space

I took a look inside today, a place I often go to play

To play and work and pass the time, making mosaic tiles in my mind

You see there is a method here, one that is not always clear

For if you fail to render right, you may be captive of the night

A night of endless hide and seek, a night of restless that cannot speak

But nights will always find their way to a bright tomorrow if they may

So let us play and let us dance for tomorrow is another chance

Where were you the Day the Earth Stood Still

Where were you the Day the Earth Stood Still

I remember being anxious

I remember feeling ill

I remember feeling dizzy

I remember the thrill

When the world around me took a pause

And told me to be still

It said to me in silent words that were both soft yet firm

It showed me things that can’t be seen unless your quieten

It whispered to me like the wind and bade me to be strong

For if you want eternity you won’t find it till it’s gone

Until your heart and soul become one with time and space

And when you do you’ll find it has always been there

 The reflection of your grace

Desert or Ocean both are venues for you and me to set our souls free

The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius

The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius

I think it may be time for an old fashioned, full blown, cards on the table, no hands bared “RANT”!

There is a Chinese curse which goes “May you live in interesting times.” Like it or not, we are living in interesting times. They are times of danger and uncertainty; but they are also the most creative of any time in the history of mankind.

It is debatable as to exactly who said what when, but never the less the message is and was clear.

My sainted grandmother, who was no doubt full of minor flaws as all of us are. But she managed to live an enchanted life that began in Dodge City, Nebraska in the 1800’s and survived some very perilous and “interesting times” in spite of all odds to a ripe old age of 82.

Through those 82 years grandma traveled by stage coach, trains, planes and automobiles. She listened to radio, watched TV, and witnessed a lunar landing.

My parents and grandparents were 1st and 2nd generation Americans coming to this country from Europe and Asia. While they had diverse backgrounds and religious beliefs they were also at least tolerant of each other.

Why is it that all the techno and, for that matter, all the other “ologies” that have come to fruition over these last decades have become totally useless in our endeavor to bring us together?

Do we never learn from our mistakes, or is it that our global society just doesn’t work any more?

It seems now more than ever that bigotry and racism have had a resurgence. Could this be because of the inequities laid forth by the wealthy upper class and intolerance of different religious beliefs and sensibilities.

To solve our current and future challenges we must leave behind some of the out of touch beliefs still with us from the Age of Pisces and embrace the new freedoms of Aquarius.

It’s going to be a “rocky road”, but then anything that is good for us is never easily achieved right?

The Seven Commandments of Seventy

The Seven Commandments of Seventy

One - Awake every morning with a song on your lips. A melody made perfect from the center of your soul. An enchanted tune that comes from all the joyous and sad moments that have made you whole. What is joy if not the victory over sadness, and sadness but the loss of joy.

Two - Be careful and kind in your daily deliverances, but steadfast in your convictions as they have made you strong. Be generous in giving of yourself.

But cautious in your approach.

Three - Accept your triumphs with humility and your defeats with resolve. It is both that have taught you, and both that have brought you to where you are today. Not everyone walks the same path, each of us must find our own way forward. But remember in doing so it is most important not to harm the people and things that have helped us clear that path.

Four - Let your meditations lead you along through out the day and evening hours, for there in lies your inner strength. A shield for your most vulnerable breaches. A safe guard of the soul.

Five - Before retiring at night let your body and mind merge. Accept the transference of the static and dynamic currents that can balance your innate equilibrium, and let the detox begin. Much like scanning a computer for malware this is a process that needs be done often.

Six - Once you have set forth on your pathway to peace and serenity, be sure that you are alert in your venture and not distracted by the cosmic clutter of others.

While listening to another’s advice remember that it may not always sync with yours, nor be in the direction that you have chosen.

Seven - Think of life as a mosaic of tile and glass, a thing of beauty that reflects your most inner hopes and desires while shielding you from the cold and darkness that is always there as well. But remember there is also a secondary defense when needed. It is our tapestry of treasures that have been woven from love and enlightenment, a warm and welcome comfort in times of necessary need.

The Layers of Life

Winter 2023

Living, Loving and Longing

It was in the year 2022 that my world would turn another page. After the devastating apocalyptic pandemic, and the utter devastation of a world order brought on by willful ignorance. A planet divided by false prophets and con artists pursuing their agendas of hate and greed laid siege to a fragile Eco system many decades in the making.

One cannot but wonder at the total lack of concern when it comes to the human condition. For a planet that has been nurtured and coddled for the past 2000 some odd years under the Picean agenda, it seems at times not much in the way of love for our neighbors or care taking of our fragile planet has been cultivated or even attempted.

As I walk my way through this journey called Life, I can’t help but reflect on the base elements that keep us alive and thriving, regardless of our reckless abandon when it comes to safeguarding our existence.

Each and every decade for me has been a celebration of a life well lived. Every season has been a symphony of light and love that have colored the tapestry and mosaic I call my life.

There, of course, have been many moments of distant darkness and even some more immediate matters that have challenged my journey, but in the end I have found them to be in some ways beneficial in giving me the strength and purpose to go on.

Life truly is a dance, and whether it is a waltz or a samba, the rhythm of universe can be heard in its wake.

This latest reincarnation in my 75th dance around the sun has perhaps been the most difficult of all the pervious ones, but once mastered it has become an auspicious one indeed.
